Photographing reflective products requires precision, control, and experience. This project features Shootify’s work with a leading eyewear brand, focusing on reflective product photography for ski goggles. Combining advanced lighting techniques with consistent angles and styling, the goal was to deliver clean, high-quality ecommerce product photography that accurately represents lens color and material.
As a product photography studio for online shops, Shootify specializes in complex surfaces, ensuring every image meets the standards required for ecommerce, branding, and marketing across all platforms.
Working with reflective products is one of the more technical areas of product photography, and it’s something Shootify specializes in. In this project, we worked with Glade Optics, a brand known for high-quality ski goggles. The goal was to create clean, consistent ecommerce product photography that accurately represents the product while maintaining a strong, minimal aesthetic.
Ski goggles present a unique challenge. They are both reflective and translucent at the same time. The lens surface reflects the environment, while also allowing light to pass through, creating color shifts and gradients.
Capturing this correctly is critical, as customers rely on images to understand how the lens will look and perform.
To achieve this, we built a controlled lighting setup designed specifically for reflective surfaces. Instead of allowing uncontrolled reflections, we shape the light carefully to create smooth gradients across the lens.
This helps highlight the color transitions — from lighter tones to deeper shades — while avoiding unwanted reflections.
At the same time, maintaining consistency across the product line was essential. Every image was captured using the same angles, camera position, and lighting ratios. This ensures that when products are displayed together on an ecommerce site, they feel uniform and professional.
Consistency is one of the key elements of high-quality ecommerce photography. Even small variations in light or angle can make a product line look uneven. By following a structured workflow, Shootify ensures that every image aligns perfectly across the full collection.
Another important part of this shoot was color accuracy. Reflective lenses often display multiple tones depending on lighting conditions. Our goal was to represent the product as closely as possible to how it appears in real life. This is especially important for online shoppers who rely entirely on visuals when making purchasing decisions.
Post-production for this project was intentionally minimal. Because the images were captured with precise lighting and control, only light retouching was needed. This helps maintain a natural, realistic look while still delivering clean, polished results.
The final images achieved a balance between technical accuracy and visual appeal. The lens reflections feel smooth and intentional, the product shape is clearly defined, and the overall presentation aligns with modern ecommerce standards.
This project is also a strong example of why brands choose to work with a dedicated product photography studio. Handling reflective products requires both technical knowledge and experience. Without proper control, reflections can easily become distracting or inconsistent.
By working within a single system, we ensured consistent lighting across all images, matching angles and framing, accurate color representation, and clean, distraction-free reflections. The client returned to Shootify for additional work — a result of reliable quality, consistency, and efficient production.
